An AF Waterless kit is required (purchased separately).

Central Dry: Dry Toilet

This elegant Sun-Mar Dry Toilet is designed for use with the waterless Centrex 2000 systems and Centrex 3000 systems.

An AF Waterless kit is required (purchased separately). Available in either White or Bone, the Dry Toilet has a seat height of 15" and a "regular sized" toilet seat.

The vent system on all AF units continuously draws air down the toilet to prevent odors in the bathroom. However, if the toilet is too high above the composter for air to be drawn down, the Dry Toilet should be vented directly. To do this, a 3" or 4" vent pipe can be installed at the rear left or rear right of the toilet, and, if necessary, a 12 Volt fan can be fitted in a section of 4" vent pipe to enhance air flow.

All Dry Toilets include a bowl liner that fits beneath the seat and which can be removed for cleaning as required. Manufactured from durable and sturdy fiberglass.

Central Flush: 1 Pint Flush Toilet

Sun-Mar offers a selection of 1 pint flush toilets for use with regular Centrex 1000, 2000, and 3000 series central composting toilet systems. More than one "1 pint flush" toilet can be installed with these units if necessary. The constraint is the number of people using the system rather than the number of toilets.

Using about one pint per flush, these ultra low flush toilets provide all the advantages of a flush toilet while minimizing water usage. They are ideal for use with Sun-Mar Central Composting Systems, but can also be used with holding tanks, overloaded septic systems, and in RV's.

A simple foot pedal flush opens the water valve and gate when pushed down, and fills the bowl with water when lifted. After flushing, a small amount of water is held in the toilet bowl which is sealed by a self-cleaning ball valve and teflon seal. Even gravity-fed water from a roof tank is sufficient to flush a 1 pint flush toilet. In winter they can be flushed manually using a container if necessary.

The 1 pint flush toilet has a regular sized toilet seat. In some instances extra height is needed to allow the toilet to gravity feed to the composting unit. Where this is the case, the 1 pint flush toilet is availabe in a low profile model with a 10" seat height, can be mounted on a platform.

For Sun-Mar installations, we recommend the 510 Plus as the unit of choice as it has the size and appearance of a "regular" toilet. 1 pint flush toilets are available in either White or Bone. They come complete except for the required 3" four (4) bolt floor flange.

CENTREX 2000 - Central Flush

Features
Electric Unit
High Capacity

Composting Capacity
4-6 Residential/Continuos Use
7-9 Weekend and Vacation Use

Perfect for medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use, the Centrex 2000 allows for both a longer composting cycle, and larger waste volumes than the 1000 models. The increased surface area in the evaporating chamber coupled with the larger heating element also provides better evaporation on electric units.

When used seasonally by up to 7-9 adults, compost will normally only need removing annually each spring. In residential use compost will have to be extracted more frequently.

When used residentially by up to 4 adults, some compost will need to be emptied into the finishing drawer once every few months.

The Centrex 2000 features a 370 watt thermostatically controlled heater in a sealed compartment under the unit and the standard Sun-Mar 30 watt turbo fan, with a 2" vent stack to remove evaporating liquid and fresh odors.

The Centrex 2000 is supplied with a 1" drain hose which should be connected to the 1" drain at the bottom of the unit. Click here for more information on handling excess liquid.

The Centrex 2000 may be used with one or more Sealand low flush toilets (Central Flush - 1 Pint Flush toilets or AF Waterless Toilet - Elongated or a Central Dry - Dry Toilet), purchased separately.

In light to medium seasonal use the Centrex 1000 is typically able to hold compost for the full season, and compost needs extraction only in the Spring.

EXCEL NE (non-electric): Self Contained

Features
Non-Electric Unit
Medium Capacity

Color
White or Bone

Composting Capacity
2-3 Residential
5-7 Weekend and Vacation Use

The success of the Excel design meant that a three chamber unit could be specifically designed for those with NO continuous 110 volt supply. First launched in 1981, the Excel NE has long been the standard toilet for those living off the grid. A 1998 redesign gave the unit a rounded look, and recessed the drum handle.

The Excel NE has no fan or heater. Odorless operation is achieved by a 4" vent mounted at the top rear of the unit which acts like a chimney on a wood stove. For good air movement the vent should be installed vertically and to 2-3 feet above the peak of the roof.

The optional 12 Volt Fan should be installed if you need to install the toilet with any bends in the vent. No more than 2 45° bends are encouraged, even with the fan.

If the Excel NE is used residentially or heavily, or is in a place which is subject to downdraft, the optional 12 volt fan should be installed in the vent stack. This fan draws 1.4 watts and can be powered by a solar panel and 12 volt marine battery.

Evaporating capacity on the Excel NE is variable, so the 1" drain at the rear should be connected to an approved drain pit, container, or other facility. Please click here for more information on handling excess liquid.

EXCEL: Self-Contained

High Capacity

Color

Composting Capacity
3-5 Residential
6-8 Weekend and Vacation Use

The Excel is the best-selling unit in North America and for good reason. It is a high capacity Bio-drum toilet that is very simple to operate, features well proven technology and is extremely reliable. The Excel was the first ever self-contained composting toilet to be certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). So, when you purchase an Excel, you are literally purchasing a composting toilet that sets the standard.

The Excel has enough capacity that it can be used just about anywhere; in residences, cottages and even in light commercial applications.

To simulate residential use the Excel was tested by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) at maximum capacity for 6 continuous months, during which the Excel produced no odour and produced a clean, safe compost. Only Sun-Mar self-contained units are listed for residential and cottage use by NSF, whose Standard #41 is the toughest composting performance standard in the world.

The 2" vent is attached at the top back of the Excel and can be installed invisibly by running it through the wall and up the outside wall. For comfort the Excel has a sturdy detachable footrest which can be removed to pull out the finishing drawer.

In normal use the Excel can normally evaporate all liquids, however a 1" emergency drain is fitted at the rear and this should be connected if the unit is to be used residentially or heavily, or if prolonged power outages are expected.
