AFM Wood Finishes

Title

Polyureseal BP

The highest quality water-based clear gloss finish available today. Its exceptional durability and abrasion resistance, coupled with high solids, very low odor, and very low VOC, make it the clear alternative to conventional solvent and water-based polyurethanes. Also available in satin.

USE ON - Safecoat® Polyureseal BP can be used on unfinished (or properly prepared and sanded previously finished) wooden surfaces such as floors, furniture and cabinetry, and is excellent for gym floors and auditoriums

APPLICATION - Always have adequate ventilation. Intermix (boxing) all containers of the same sheen to ensure gloss uniformity before applying. Before using, mix coating thoroughly by gently stirring or rolling container to avoid air bubbles. Be sure to stir product thoroughly every 20 minutes during application. Do not shake container. Pour material to be used into another container before applying coating to avoid contaminating main container. Then apply as is, using a quality nylon brush, pad applicator, or unheated spray applicator. Apply liberal coats, keeping a good wet edge and avoid overbrushing. In most cases, a minimum of 3 coats is required, depending on the surface. When spraying, use a .015 tip or smaller. Apply thin even coats when spraying rather than heavy coats which will tend to sag. If spray pattern begins to dryspray, reduce air pressure and increase material flow to surface. Use a damp, dust free rag after sanding to remove dust particles. Use aluminum oxide or silicon carbide sandpaper to sand between coats. For best results, this product should not be reduced. Use only during low or moderate humidity conditions. Applying this product over lightly dampened surfaces can assist the user in controlling the dry time. Smoother finishes are achieved when surfaces are damp during application. Note: these instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine which preparation and techniques are best suited to the specific surface.

COVERAGE - One gallon of Safecoat Polyureseal BP covers approximately 350 square feet in one coat depending on method of application and surface porosity.

DRYING/CURING TIME - Under normal conditions,Safecoat® Polyureseal BP dries to touch in one hour, is sandable after 2-4hours, and re-coatable after 4-8 hours. The product will continue to cure and become harder over time. Avoid traffic for at least 24 hours after application. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh airflow, moderate humidity, and temperatures around 70°F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat Polyureseal BP to dry and cure more slowly.

SAFE SEAL

OVERSTOCK SALE!!!!! Gallons Reg. $70. SALE! $52

Safecoat Safe Seal is a multi-use, waterbased, low gloss sealer for highly porous surfaces such as particle board, plywood, processed wood and porous concrete. Used primarily to reduce toxic outgassing: in particular, it is highly effective at sealing in formaldehyde outgassing from processed wood such as plywood, particle board and pressed wood. Safecoat Safe Seal is virtually odorless on application and odorless once cured.

USE ON - Porous surfaces such as processed wood products, concrete, wood, new drywall, and plaster. Test surfaces first in inconspicuous areas to be sure product absorbs into surfaces completely. Excellent at controlling emissions of open faced and faced fiberglass batt insulation -simply fog spray surfaces. Safe Seal’s superior adhesion to a variety of surfaces allows for its use as a bonding primer to improve the adhesion and bonding power of adhesives and coatings on difficult surfaces. For example, apply a thin coat to the slab and bottom of the tile before laying floor tile adhesive (in this application no cure period is necessary; the adhesive may be applied while the Safe Seal is still tacky).

APPLICATION - To assist in quick drying/curing, bring adequate ventilation and air flow to the work area. Before using, stir Safecoat® Safe Seal thoroughly but without excessive agitation so as to avoid air bubbles. Then apply as is, using a brush, roller, sponge or appropriate spray equipment. Apply in thin coats. For most jobs, reducing this product should not be necessary. Milky appearance, dries clear. As the flexible membrane created by Safe Seal remains slightly tacky even when cured, surfaces treated with Safe Seal should generally be coated with a finish coating. For best results, this product should not be reduced. Note: these instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine what preparation and techniques are best suited to the specific surface.

COVERAGE - One gallon of Safecoat Safe Seal covers approximately 350 square feet in one coat depending on surface porosity.

DRYING/CURING TIME - Under normal conditions, Safecoat® Safe Seal dries to touch in one hour or less and can be top-coated (or if the surface is still porous recoated with another coat of Safe Seal) after 2 hours. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh air flow, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55°F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat SafeSeal to dry and cure more slowly.

Hard Seal

Safecoat Hard Seal is a multi-use, clear gloss sealer especially formulated to provide mar resistance to both low and high porosity surfaces. Because it forms a continuous membrane when applied properly it is particularly effective at sealing in any pollution or toxic chemical compounds outgassing from the surface to which it is applied.

USE ON - Typically used on previously uncoated and unsealed woodwork, cabinetry and vinyl tile. To prevent outgassing of previously coated surfaces, can also be applied over existing paints, stain and colorfast wallpaper. When applying to a previously coated surface test in inconspicuous places for satisfactory appearance. Not for use on particle board or chipboard.

APPLICATION - Always have adequate ventilation. Before using, mix coating thoroughly by gently stirring or rolling container to avoid air bubbles. Be sure to stir product thoroughly every 20 minutes during application. Do not shake container. Pour material to be used into another container before applying coating to avoid contaminating main container. SURFACE PREPARATION
: Because of wide variations in the way different woods accept stain, we particularly recommend that users always test in small, inconspicuous areas for appearance and compatibility before application to the entire surface
. Surfaces to be stained with Safecoat DuroStain should be sound and cleaned of dirt, dust, grease, wax, silicone, soap and oil, and must be completely free of mold, mildew or fungus contamination.
Cleaning with an odorless, dye-free, all-purpose cleaner like SafeChoice Super Clean is recommended. Previously painted or sealed surfaces will not accept stain readily.  Consequently, stripping of old paint or sealer followed by rinsing and sanding will be required before application of Safecoat DuroStain to achieve maximum penetration from this product.  Surface can be dampened with water to assist user in getting an even application. Porous woods with strong grain pattern can be tamed by using thinned (50% with water) application of Safecoat® DuroStain Clear. Safecoat® DuroStain can be used as a glaze over painted and sealed surfaces.
APPLICATION
: Always have adequate ventilation. Intermix (boxing) all containers of the same color to ensure uniformity before  applying. Before using, stir Safecoat DuroStain well, then apply it evenly without reduction using a high quality nylon or synthetic bristle brush. To adjust intensity of color, best results will be obtained by staining six foot sections (2’ x 3’) of the surface and wiping off excess stain while it is still wet to achieve the desired intensity of color. Always keep a wet edge. Darkness of stain may be increased by high surface porosity, wiping off less stain, or letting the stain dry longer before wiping.  A squeegee applicator can be beneficial when coating large flat surfaces like doors. The shade of the stained surface will be affected by the color and type of wood. Reduce if desired for spraying with up to 1/2 pint of water per gallon. Always use a painter’s mask when spraying. Do not apply in direct sunlight. Make sure to wipe off any excess stain which does not penetrate into the wood. Note: these instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine what preparation and techniques are best suited to the specific surface
